Life Framer Photography Award Honorary Mention

OPEN CALL – We’re delighted to announce the winners from our final theme of this edition, judged by Alison Morley – Chair of the Documentary Photography and Photojournalism Program at the world-renowned International Center of Photography in New York.
•
Honorary Mention by Henriette van Gasteren (@lilith_photographer).
•
She says of it – “Recurring themes in my work include identity, gender roles, freedom, equality, religion and the positive and negative aspects of human experience. My work is sometimes humorous, often sensual, frequently confrontational and always original and insightful. With my photography of other people I also intend to make people think about society.”
•
Editor’s comment – “Shot with a technical excellence, this is a captivating environmental portrait of Henriette’s subject – the sculptor perhaps? – sat nude amongst these striking wooden carvings. Nude and vulnerable, he sits eyes closed and still, seemingly lost in thought and in harmony with the figures that surround him. It’s a privileged, intimate view into his world – one not without substantial challenge no doubt – and feels like a celebration of his disability and the body in its innumerable forms.” – Life Framer

BAD/CENSORED: My 15 minutes of fame (yeah right….)
One of my self-portraits from the series ‘Woman is the pig of the world’ is on large display in Münich (Germany) at this very moment. Do you see the big red square saying ‘BAD/CENSORED’ on the right? Yes, there it is. When you’ll have a closer look you might be able to view this self-portrait shining through the red.
The cultural department of the city of Munich has commissioned Der Greif to conceive a display for Kunstinsel am Lenbachplatz. The large format billboard in the city centre is conceived in relation with issue 12, and forms a unit with the print publication and the museum show. On display until November 2019.

“Blame The Algorithm”
Where: Stadtmuseum Munich, Sankt-Jakobs-Platz 1, 80331 München

Kunstkeller: das einzige Aktfotokunst-Museum Deutschlands
Ich bin dabei! Du auch?
Museum aktfotoartdresden im Kunstkeller
Ausstellung zeitgenössischer Aktfotokunst
Museums-Eröffnungsvernissage:
Samstag, 20. Juli 2019; 16.30 Uhr
Hot-pants, 2012 (self-portrait from series ‘A house is not a home’)
HJIMvanGasteren/Lilith, Niederlande; Klaus Ender, Günter Rössler, Werner Lieberknecht, Marc Antonio, Mario Palitzsch;
Andreas Maria Kahn, Markus Lokai, Mark Kessler, Günter Wünsche, Thoralf Möhlis – allesamt Deutschland

Issue 12 in which my work will be featured is now available for preorder!
As guest editors of issue 12 of DER GREIF, Adam Broomberg and Oliver Chanarin sent out a call for images that are too private, too quiet, too violent, too political, too subversive or too explicit to share online. They received an avalanche of submissions. Faced with a daunting task of editing the material they turned to a disgruntled former facebook employee who will remain anonymous. Read more below.
